Mobile Bar Association Honors Casi Callaway with 2010 Liberty Bell Award
Casi Callaway, executive director of Mobile Baykeeper®, has been chosen the 2010 recipient of the Mobile Bar Association's Liberty Bell Award. The Liberty Bell Award was established more than 30 years ago by the American Bar Association to recognize an outstanding citizen who, by his or her services, promoted a better understanding of the Constitution, encouraged respect for the law and courts, stimulated a deeper sense of responsibility and/or fostered a better understanding and appreciation of the rule of law.
Mobile Baykeeper® focuses on air and water quality issues, water quantity, health and the protection of natural resources. It deals with issues such as sewage, air toxins, mercury exposure, permit violations, and industry growth.
Callaway is responsible for coordinating public education, community organizing, research and fundraising.
Callaway was presented with her award at the annual Law Day Luncheon of the Mobile Bar Association on May 14.
