Alabama Bankruptcy Assistance Project to Host Free CLE

Alabama's new pro bono bankruptcy project is offering a five-hour bankruptcy CLE in Montgomery on Thursday, Dec. 19, at the Alabama State Bar beginning at 9 a.m. The program includes 1.0 ethics hour. Register here.

3rd Circuit Pro Bono CLE and Reception for Christy Crow and Louis Rutland

The Third Judicial Circuit will host a Pro Bono CLE and Reception for Christy Crow and Louis Rutland on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2019. The CLE includes a free lunch and all are invited to the reception following the event at 5 p.m. to celebrate Christy Crow's accomplishment as the president of the Alabama State Bar and Louis Rutland's 50 years of service in the legal profession. Proposed Amendments to the Eleventh Circuit’s Rules

Starting Dec. 4, a public comment period opens on proposed amendments to the Rules of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. The comment period will remain open until Jan. 3. A copy of the proposed amendments may be obtained on and after Dec. 4 from the court’s website.

Montgomery Bench and Bar Conference 

The Montgomery County Bar Association and the Montgomery Chapter of the Federal Bar Association will host its annual Bench and Bar Conference Thursday, Dec. 5 through Friday Dec. 6, at the federal courthouse. Mobile-Baldwin Bench and Bar Conference
 
The Mobile Bar Association and Baldwin County Bar Association are partnering to host the annual Bench and Bar Conference on Friday, Dec. 6, at the Grand Hotel in Point Clear. The conference offers 4.0 hours of MCLE credit and 1.0 hour of ethics, networking opportunities and a chance to spend one-on-one time with justices and judges from throughout the state. New this year are breakout sessions focusing on civil law and criminal law. Award-winning humorist and political satirist P.J. The Birmingham Bar Association Annual Meeting          

Birmingham Bar members are invited to attend the 2019 Annual Membership Meeting on Dec. 13, from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m., at the Birmingham Bar Center. Meet the winners of the Public Service Award and Lifetime Achievement Award, learn who won the elections for 2020 Executive Committee positions and hear a preview of the BBA's plans for 2020.The meeting is designed to last one hour, so members can move on to the Annual Membership Party at 5:30 p.m.
