Position Announcement: Staff Attorney, Middle District of Alabama
The Standing Chapter 13 Trustee for the Middle District of Alabama is accepting applications from qualified individuals for full-time employment as staff attorney in the Trustee’s office. The staff attorney works under the direction of the Chapter 13 Trustee. The position requires regular appearance on behalf of the Trustee for formal hearings before the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of Alabama in Montgomery, Opelika, Dothan, and elsewhere as may be required.
Notice For Appointment of A New U. S. Magistrate Judge
The Judicial Conference of the United States has authorized the appointment of a fulltime U.S. Magistrate Judge for the Northern District of Alabama in Birmingham. The current annual salary of the position is $201,112. The term of office is eight years. A full public notice and the application forms for the magistrate judge position are available on the court’s website. Applications must be received by Mar. 19, 2021.
One Month Until Law Day's Volunteer Deadline
The Alabama State Bar Lawyer in Every Classroom Committeewill be providing lawyers to visit middle school classrooms (6th-8th grades) in-person or virtually Friday, Apr. 30, 2021, to teach students about this year’s ABA Law Day theme, “Advancing the Rule of Law Now.” Lawyers will be provided lesson plans and resources on the theme that they can use for the class. If you would like to teach a class in your area, click here and fill out the Attorney Volunteer Form by March 19.

March Meeting: Child Support Guidelines and Enforcement
The Alabama Advisory Committee on Child Support Guidelines and Enforcement is scheduled to have a web meeting on Friday, Mar. 12, beginning at 10:00 A.M. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, no in-person meeting will be held. Persons wishing to join the web meeting should submit an e-mail no later than 5:00 P.M. on Wednesday, Mar. 10, to alcsge@alacourt.gov for instructions.
