Lang Floyd Honored with Commissioners Award

MIRIMAR BEACH, Fla. and MONTGOMERY, Ala.—The Alabama State Bar has awarded Lang Floyd with the 2022 Commissioners Award.

Floyd was presented with the award at the 145^th Annual Meeting of the Alabama State Bar on June 25, 2022, at the Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa in Miramar Beach, Fla. Floyd was celebrated for the many ways he has impacted his community and profession.

Floyd is a graduate of Cumberland School of Law. After serving 20 years as a district and circuit judge in the 28th Judicial Circuit, Floyd retired from the bench in December 2016 and began his alternative dispute resolution practice. He currently manages a statewide mediation practice.

Alabama State Bar President, Taze Shepard, said, “The Alabama State Bar is proud to award Lang Floyd with the Commissioners Award. He has been dedicated to the improvement of the administration of justice in Alabama for many years.”

Floyd has served as a bar commissioner, representing Baldwin County, since 2017. He served as co-chair of the State Bar Executive Director Search Committee in 2021 and currently serves as chair of the State Bar Court Technology Task Force. He also serves on the Alabama Supreme Court’s Committee on Alabama Rules of Judicial Administration. He is a past recipient of the State Bar President’s Award.

“Lang Floyd is very deserving of this award,” Alabama State Bar Executive Director Terri Lovell said. “We have all benefited from his contributions to the Alabama State Bar”
